EU GDPR POLICY COMPLIANCY
In a nutshell, I’m a one-man-band author and self-publisher, and I don’t have the time or energy to do anything dodgy with your data (which in my case consists of your first name and email address).
I don’t sell anything through this website, but I will point you towards Amazon where I hope you’ll buy one of my books.
And I do all sorts of marketing, like Facebook and Amazon ads, so you might come across me that way. Bottom line is, I’m never going to stalk you. Honest.
TRACKING YOUR VISIT
Every online business in the world does it. That’s the world we live in now. I use Google Analytics to see what my visitors are looking at, and try and figure out what kind of content they’d like to see. And then give it to them.
I also have the Facebook Pixel installed, which tells me how people interact with my site. I think you can block it too, if you want. Not sure why anyone would want to do that but it’s your call.
If you download my free book or sign up to my newsletter, I will store your name and email address. I don’t sell anything through my website so payment details are not stored. I make every possible effort to keep your name and email address secure and only I have access to it. I do absolutely nothing unsurprising with it.
If you do sign up to my newsletter, your first name and email address are stored on Mailchimp, which is the system I use to manage newsletters and emails. They promise that they are GDPR compliant. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by hitting the unsubscribe button.
If you sign up to my newsletter I will send you something on an irregular basis, and only when there is something interesting to tell you, like a new book, a film, a book-lovers offer that I think will be of benefit to you, or something of equal value. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button in every email. Your name and email address are stored securely at
Mailchimp automatically adds tracking things to links, so if you click on a link I’ll know about it. Same if you open an email. Or if you don’t. The truth is though, I do nothing more than take a quick glance at email opens and clicks, because I want to make sure I’ve giving you value. If you don’t think I am, you can unsubscribe. Or send me an email at email@example.com and I’ll do it for you.
I use social media to promote myself as a thriller writer and filmmaker. If you talk to me in our Facebook group, I might find you on Twitter and say hello. You can ask me to be less friendly if you wish and I will of course respect your privacy. You are not required to follow me back.
And that’s about it.
Basically, I am a person who loves writing stories and I want to get as many people reading them as possible. If you come across my work and love it, we’ll stay connected. And your email address will remain private, period.
All the best.
